Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your data.

Last updated: August 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Vertigo Guardian ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website and mobile application (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address — used for account creation, authentication, and sending alerts and notifications.
  • Name and profile information — optional, used for personalization and community features.

Health Data

You may voluntarily log the following health information:

  • Heart rate, blood pressure, sleep hours and quality, stress levels, hydration, caffeine intake
  • Allergy symptom severity and vertigo episode occurrences with severity ratings
  • Symptom descriptions and personal notes
  • Medical records you upload (doctor notes, test results, prescriptions)

This health data is sensitive. We treat it with the highest level of security and never sell it to third parties.

Location Data

  • City, state, country, or zip code — used to fetch real-time weather and atmospheric data for your area. You may enter this manually or use automatic location detection.
  • We do not continuously track your GPS location. Location is used only to retrieve weather data when you use the Service.

Usage Data

  • Device type, app version, and interaction events (e.g., feature usage, page views) used to improve the Service.
  • Crash and error reports to diagnose and fix technical issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To calculate your personalized vertigo risk score based on weather and health data.
  • To send you weather alerts, health digests, and appointment reminders.
  • To provide AI-powered medical insights and symptom analysis.
  • To enable community features (posting, commenting, and interacting with other users).
  • To improve our clinical alert rules, risk models, and overall Service quality.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your inquiries.
  • To send important account, security, and policy notifications.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal or health data. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: Third-party services we use to operate the app (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery, payment processing via Stripe, weather data providers). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal Compliance: If required by law, court order, or government regulation.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — subject to the same privacy protections.
  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize sharing (e.g., sharing health logs with a telehealth provider during a consultation).

4. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), secure cloud storage, and strict access controls. Health data is stored in an encrypted database with row-level security — each user can only access their own records.

Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your information and continuously improving our security practices.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Your data is retained for as long as your account is active.
  • You can export your health data at any time from the Health Analytics page.
  • You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings. This action is irreversible.
  • We may retain anonymized, aggregated data for research and improvement purposes after account deletion.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. Analytics data is collected in aggregate to improve the Service.

7. AI and LLM Processing

When you use AI-powered features (e.g., AI Medical Advisor, symptom analysis), your inputs are sent to our AI language model provider for processing. We use reputable providers that do not retain your data for training purposes. AI-generated content is informational only and should not replace professional medical advice.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

  • Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time.
  • Export: You can download your health logs and data from the Health Analytics page.
  • Correction: You can edit your health logs, preferences, and profile at any time.
  • Deletion: You can delete individual records or your entire account from Settings.
  • Opt-out: You can disable email alerts, push notifications, and weekly digests in Settings.

10. Third-Party Links

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., medical resources, telehealth providers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when the policy was last revised.
